Christiana Figueres
Architecte de l'Accord de Paris.
A Costa Rican diplomat from a family steeped in public service, Christiana Figueres led the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change from 2010 to 2016. Taking over after the Copenhagen summit had ended in disappointment, she rebuilt trust among nearly 200 nations and steered the process to the Paris Agreement in 2015. Co-founder of Global Optimism and co-author of The Future We Choose, she now hosts the podcast Outrage + Optimism and remains one of the most influential voices for collaborative, ambitious climate action.
Few leaders can point to an outcome as concrete as a universal climate agreement; her leadership style, built on listening and stubborn optimism, remains a reference for multilateral diplomacy.
