José Andrés
Chef devenu héros humanitaire. Millions nourris.
Born in Spain and based in the United States since the early 1990s, José Andrés built a Washington restaurant group that helped introduce Americans to tapas. His larger legacy, though, lies far from the dining room: World Central Kitchen, founded in 2010 after the Haiti earthquake, sends chefs and volunteers to feed communities in the wake of hurricanes, earthquakes and war, from Puerto Rico to Ukraine. Hundreds of millions of meals later, he has rewritten the playbook for emergency humanitarian relief.
He proves that professional craft can become a first-rate humanitarian tool, with impact measured in meals served and a presence on every continent.
