Raised on the public courts of Compton, California, Serena Williams won 23 Grand Slam singles titles, a record for the Open era, and four Olympic gold medals, dominating women's tennis for more than two decades before retiring in 2022. Founder of Serena Ventures, she has invested in more than a hundred start-ups, most of them led by women and founders from under-represented groups. She has also launched a fashion label and supports education and community programmes through her foundation, remaining one of the most recognisable figures in world sport.
