Hindou O. Ibrahim
Voix peuples autochtones. UN Champion Earth.
A member of Chad's Mbororo pastoralist community, Hindou Oumarou Ibrahim co-founded and now leads the Association of Peul Women and Indigenous Peoples of Chad. For more than two decades she has defended indigenous rights and pressed for traditional knowledge to be integrated into climate policy, particularly around the Lake Chad basin. She addressed the signing ceremony of the Paris Agreement, serves as a UN Sustainable Development Goals Advocate appointed by the Secretary-General, and brings the voice of the communities most exposed to climate change into major international forums.
She connects the Sahel to global negotiations and reminds decision-makers that climate solutions also rest on indigenous knowledge, a rare and tangible contribution to the international debate.
