Ray Dalio
Plus grand hedge fund. Principles.
Founder of Bridgewater Associates, Ray Dalio started the firm from his New York apartment in 1975 and built it into the world's largest hedge fund, managing money for sovereign wealth funds and pension plans on every continent. His approach, built on explicit principles and a culture of radical transparency, is set out in Principles, a bestseller translated worldwide, and in later work on debt cycles and the changing world order. Through Dalio Philanthropies he supports ocean exploration and education.
He codified a way of deciding and learning that has been adopted far beyond finance, and he devotes part of his fortune to long-term causes.
